Düsseldorfer of the Year
When around 500 VIPs from the Rhineland get dressed up in December (for over 10 years), the “Düsseldorfer of the Year” is calling: once a year, the Rheinische Post celebrates local patriotism in a grand, glamorous way, when it honours personalities, well-known, famous and also new faces, with the “Glass Lion” in the industrial setting at the Böhler site. As a result, the city finds out about the achievements of its exceptional locals, be it in business, sport, culture, voluntary work, innovation, sustainability or for their life’s work. The award winners have already included Heino, Die Toten Hosen, Jenny Jürgens, Dieter Nuhr and Udo Lindenberg. As befits an award, the speakers are also charismatic, from Caroline Reiber to Jürgen Beckers to Bettina Böttinger.
